It's October and fall has come in with a vengence. After one of the most beautiful Septembers we can remember, the need to get things done before winter is now at the top of our list. Although, the urge to catch some of those big fall Walleyes is still there and when a nice day comes along, you can bet that we'll be out on the water.
The 12th Annual Tamarack Classic was held on July 18th. Congratulations to the winners, John Szorc and Jabob Starck (yes this is our 12 year old) who brought 6 beautiful walleyes to the weigh in and took home $1500 for their nice catch.
September brought the AIM International Walleye Championship to Lake Winnibigoshish. The Lake Winnie Area Resort Association hosted over 50 proffessional anglers competing for prizes totalling more than $100,000. Tamarack Lodge was host to several of the pros, AIM Executives, and the CEO of Lund Boats. Click Here to see live video that was shot on Lake Winnie or HERE to learn more about AIM. Congratulations to the winner Todd Riley who talks about his win, Lake Winnibigoshish, and the AIM format in This Video.
The fall fishing has been phenominal this year. It's obvious that the Perch population is on the upswing and that the average size in increasing. Limits of 10"+ Jumbos were a common sight throughout September. We can look forward to an incredible ice fishing season if the same pattern continues through the winter.
Speaking of Winter. We will be completely remodeling cabin 7 this winter. Be sure to visit our website often to keep up with the progress. In addition, we will be adding on to the lodge this fall to give the family a little more living space. We have our work cut out for us, that's for sure!
Conversations we've had with the DNR have us really excited about the fishing on Lake Winnie. Lake Winnibigoshish is now ranked as one of the top 3 lakes in the state for size and population of Walleyes. It's one of a very few lakes that can boast of better fishing now than 10 or even 20 years ago.
In an effort to help ofset the rising cost of everything for our guests, we are not raising our rates this year for the ice fishing season. We are confident that you will not find nicer cabins anywhere for the price! You can find our Winter rates HERE.
Now is the time to book your Ice Fishing trip. Cabins tend to fill up fast once it gets cold out. So, get your group together, and visit our Cabins Page to choose the right cabin. Then, Check Availability and give us a call to make your reservation.
That's about all the news we have for now. We look forward to seeing you at Tamarack Lodge. Come visit us to create memories that will last a lifetime.
