Another summer seaon has come to a close at Tamarack Lodge on Lake Winnbigoshish. A heartfelt thank you goes out to all of our guests this year! We know that you can spend your precious vacation dollars anywhere you choose and we appreciate the fact that you chose to spend your time with us.
We certainly couldn't have asked for a nicer summer or better fishing! The walleye bite was on all season and the perch bite was incredible, especially this fall. You know you have a healthy Jumbo Perch population when you are throwing back fish in the 10" range. Northern Pike provided almost constant action all season. We saw several fish over 8 pounds come in. Laura caught 2 of them, and one of those garnered her and her partner Mary Wixson 1st place in the annual Women on Water fishing contest.
Speaking of fishing contests, who are those two boys in the picture? That's right, Jacob and his friend Colton Hines repeat their performance in the annual Tamarack Lodge contest. While they missed first place last year by a quarter of a pound, they soundly tromped their adult competition this year by bringing in 6 nice Walleyes allowing them to capture the 2011 title.
Ice fishing is just around the corner! With the quality of Perch and Walleyes caught this summer, hard water fishing should be incredible! We are in the process of building a couple of new fish houses and adding another plow to our winter equipment that will provide better access for our guests.
In addition to the Winter fishing, Tamarack Lodge is located right on some of the best snowmobile trails in Minnesota. Leave right from your cabin and explore hundreds of miles of groomed trails.
